Product Description
Eagle One's Etching Mag Wheel Cleaner is an aggressive rim cleaner with an acid-based etching formula to remove tough break dust and grime. The MAG Wheel Cleaner is formulated for as-cast alloy wheels and chrome-plated surfaces and is the perfect car care product for the motor enthusiast. MAG Wheel Cleaner etches a microscopic layer off the wheel surface, taking brake dust and grime with it. A special additive in the formula plates onto the surface of the wheel, eliminating rust and corrosion without damaging the metal.

I was so impressed that the yellow stained wheels on my beater/offroad toy Ford Explorer caught my eye. This Explorer has over 200k miles on it, and has just been a beater vehicle for me for the past 6 years. So, it only gets washed once or twice a year after it gets covered in mud. I sprayed down two of the wheels and let the cleaner set for about 60 second again, and sprayed it down with water. Again not actually scrubbing, wiping, or even touching the wheels. I added a pic of the worst wheel before and after results. The wheels still have a slight yellow tint, but way cleaner then I have seen them in the past 6 years. Again I expect repeated cleanings and some wiping will continue to improve the results.
There are two things I don't like about this product. 1. After spraying it one 8 wheels the bottle is pretty much empty. 2. I just found that it cost about 1/3 the price at my local autoparts store.....the price of Amazon convenience. I would still buy it again at $14 if that was the only option.
I'm off to the autoparts store to get a couple of more bottles so I can see how well it works on my "new" 2007 Yukon Denali with 200k miles of neglect from the previous owner. I'll upload more pics of those wheels too.
UPDATE: Just did the 20" chrome wheels on my 2007 Yukon Denali. They were in aweful shape, and yes i just hand washed them 7 days ago. That brake dust is baked in there. Again only sprayed on and off with water. The results are frazy.

A word of caution, this stuff is acid based and as a result the fumes are nothing short of horrendous. I was outside with a breeze and still felt a mask would have been a good idea, and I will wear one when I do a detail cleaning of these wheels. It goes without saying gloves are a must. If you are working on bare wheels like I did don't let it sit long as the acid will start to corrode the surface (which is why it works so well!)
